If you appreciate the legendary Gibbard/Tamborello combination at all, you’ll realize that Owl City is just not even close. I mean, I’ve been listening to Owl City since wayy before he was cool to anyone but music geeks like me, and I respect him a lot, but he just can’t compare. He is pure electro-pop, and The Postal Service was much more alternative pop music. It’s like comparing Owl City with Exciter-era Depeche Mode; you just can’t do it! The beeps and buzzes are similar, I guess, but it’s just not the same style of music. Plus, Owl City has lyrics about, like, love and God and such. The Postal Service was essentially Death Cab lyrics (AKA, remorse and failed relationships) stuck into Tamborello’s wicked electronics. I’ve heard so many people compare Owl City and Postal Service, but they should just quit. Postal Service definitely ranks higher on my favorite bands list, but they’re both good, and they’re both different from each other.

John Krasinski directed it, and Ben Gibbard (of Death Cab for...

John Krasinski directed it, and Ben Gibbard (of Death Cab for Cutie) has a role! I must say, this film was honestly one of the better movies I’ve ever had the pleasure of viewing. A lot of people have said it was “cute” and such, but there was a lot more to it.
I feel like starting some kind of series. So, being the musically-inclined person I am, I’ve decided to occasionally list off some albums that have a special place in my heart. We’re starting this off with Coldplay’s X & Y. In the winter of 2007, my hometown had a series of insane ice storms for a week straight. My friend came over and graced me with a copy of this album, and I instantly fell in love with the band. Even though Coldplay no longer ranks in my top favorite bands (actually, I’m hatin’ on their new material.), X & Y still makes me feel in much the same way as a cup of hot chocolate warms you up on a cold day.

In 2004, British actor Hugh Laurie, during the making of the...

In 2004, British actor Hugh Laurie, during the making of the movie Flight of the Phoenix, took time to audition for a television show idea called House. With production members of the Phoenix film, Laurie, believing that Gregory House would be a secondary character to the show, quickly worked up an audition tape. And TV history was born.

Tracy: Orange-and-black decorations?
